Bookstock (Laurel Park Place), through Sunday: Detroit’s largest used book and media sale is back! Bookstock, sponsored by the Mike Morse Law Firm, has over 300,000 donated books and media items for sale with proceeds benefiting education and literacy in the community. Give a gently used book a new life while giving Detroit students a new hope. Donation and volunteer info here.

Novi BBQ Fest (Twelve Mile Crossing), through Sunday: Fire up the pit for some of Michigan’s best BBQ all in one place. Enjoy live music, make homemade crafts, and try something new with over 300 beers to choose from. Saturday is Children’s Day with free face painting, magic shows, games, characters and more. Thomas the Tank Engine (Greenfield Village), through Sunday: It’s the final weekend to catch Thomas the Tank Engine pull into Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford. Hop on board for a real train ride with Thomas for a family-fun day filled with games, photo opportunities and a meet-and-greet with Sir Topham Hatt. The Offspring (Fillmore), Friday 7pm: The legendary punk rock band is wrapping up the U.S. leg of their “Let the Bad Times Roll” tour with stops in Detroit, Chicago and Milwaukee before heading off for a European leg this summer. The tour is in support of their latest album of the same name, their tenth in a lengthy discography. Joining the California natives will be Blame My Youth. Get tickets here.

Backyard Art Fair, Saturday 11am-6pm: Enjoy a grassroots art fair that highlights local artists with a self-guided tour around Ferndale and Royal Oak. The makeshift fair includes 20 unique stops for arts, crafts, treats and surprises. The fair is free and for all ages. More info and map here.

Michigan Filipino Unity Day (Warren Civic Center Library), Saturday 11am-4pm: Grab your pamilia and your kaibigans for a fiesta celebrating the multifaceted cultures of the Philippines. Enjoy a Filipino potluck and sample culinary delights like lechon (whole roasted pig) and halo-halo. Learn all about the Philippines with a cultural fashion show and live performances. Bourbon & Whiskey Fest (Whiskey Raes), Sunday 12-5pm: Get your passport to whiskey from around the world. Over 125 whiskey and bourbons will be featured including Kentucky Bourbon, Japanese, Canadian-American, Scotch and Rye. Zoo Brew: For the Birds (Detroit Zoo), Sunday 6-10pm: Join all your favorite animal friends for an after-hours party at the zoo. Sip and sample from over 80 local craft breweries, enjoy live entertainment and habitat chats, and enjoy the zoo’s many exhibits without all the crowds. David Spade (Royal Oak Music Theatre), Sunday 6pm: SNL-alum and star of NBC’s “Just Shoot Me,” the Birmingham, Michigan-born comedian has been making audiences laugh for decades whether on TV, movies, award shows or even TikTok. Get tickets here.

Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit, ongoing: Step inside the colorful world of the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh with a state-of-the-art display turning his artwork into gorgeously animated projections. This larger-than-life experience is the original production that has been enjoyed by over 4 million people worldwide. The exhibit opens up at the former Harmonie Club that has been renovated and renamed as Lighthouse ArtSpace. Reservations and tickets here.
