Something to do for just about everyone in Metro Detroit

The weekend is just around the corner and if you’re looking to get out and have a good time there’s something for just about everyone happening around Metro Detroit.

First up, a popular area in downtown Detroit is getting ready for the summer. The Dequindre Cut kicks off the season with the opening night party of the Freightyard. There will be food, cocktails, karaoke, ice cream and other goodies and games for all ages. It’s happening Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 3019 Orleans in Detroit.

Next, it’s that season when people start to fire up the grill, but if you’re not up for grilling yourself you can head over to St. Andrews Hall for a smoking good time and a great cause. It’s the annual Barley, BBQ, and Beats. The event that benefits hospice of Michigan will feature BBQ from local pit masters, hand-crafted cocktails and mocktails from local distilleries, and live music performances. The event happens Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 431 E. Congress in Detroit.

For art lovers, the Orion Art Center is hosting a free art and flower fair. The annual event will feature 100 artists and flower vendors, local crafters, entertainment, and live artists. The fair runs Friday through Sunday in Downtown Lake Orion.

From land to sea. It’s the 35th annual Great Lakes Boating Festival. The show will feature boats up to 60 feet in length to view or purchase. If you’re not in the market for a boat, vendors will also be there. There will also be music, food trucks, cocktails, games and more. The free event that’s open to the public and happens Saturday and Sunday at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club.
