Karen Drew joined WDIV-TV in 1998. Currently Karen anchors the Local 4 News at Noon and is part of the Local 4 Defenders investigative unit.
The multiple Emmy award winning journalist has made her mark in the city of Detroit. Karen has exposed government waste, busted a million dollar lottery winner on welfare, exposed a local school official drinking and driving a school issued vehicle, went undercover showing a mobile strip club that illegally operated at Detroit Lions tailgate festivities, exposed the City Hall scandal, mammogram centers with problems with their equipment and staff, a broken 9-1-1 system, state parole officers skipping work instead of monitoring the parolees, con artists scamming you out of your money on adoption deals, and crime trends in local neighborhoods.
Karen puts much of her time and energy into a variety of local non-profit groups to help others and to improve the community. March of Dimes, The Alzheimer's Association, Karmanos Cancer Institute, Christ Child House, Arthritis Foundation, Troy Community Coalition are some of the groups Karen works with.
Karen graduated from Southern Illinois University and has worked at TV stations in North Dakota, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida.
Karen enjoys spending her free time reading, running, traveling, going to sporting events, and spending time with family. Karen, her husband and children, reside in Oakland County.
