Larry Bird, whose Indiana State team made it to the title game in 1979, followed up his 13-year Hall of Fame NBA career by coaching the Indiana Pacers from 1997 to 2000. In 2003, he assumed the role of president of basketball operations for the Pacers, which he held through the summer of 2012.
