DETROIT -- Cars, stars and people who love looking at both, came out to the 2009 North American International Auto Show's annual Charity Preview.
The black tie event offered a bit of glamour while contributing to good causes throughout Metro Detroit.
All the money raised from Friday’s preview will go to 13 local children’s charities. This year’s event was expected to raise $6 million.
There’s no doubt the Auto Show is a bit paired down this year; however, nearly 7,000 people came out to Charity Preview.
Stars like "Late Night’s" Conan O’Brien and actor Jeff Daniels were big name draws who helped support the event.
And there was plenty to see on the floor. From the $1 million Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Sterling Moss to all new 2010 Buick LaCrosse that starts at $26,000 and is estimated to get 28 mpg there was a lot to take in at Cobo.
The public will be able to take it all in soon. The Auto Show will be open to the public:
Saturday, Jan. 17 - Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009 9 a.m. - 10 p.m. (no admittance after 9 p.m.)
Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. (no admittance after 6 p.m.)
Tickets cost $12 for adults, $6 for seniors, $6 for children 7-12, children 6 and younger are admitted free with a parent.
