DETROIT - While millions of Americans will be driving to holiday getaways this weekend, it might also be a good time to look for a new car.
Consumer Reports has cut through the commercials, the hype, and promises to give you its list of best car deals.
In honor of Memorial Day, the magazine focused on American-made models that are also on its own Recommended list.
The vehicles listed below are considered Best New Car Deals, meaning there are notable discounts on these models that meet Consumer Reports criteria to be recommended.
While American-made probably means Ford, General Motors and Chrysler to Metro Detroiters, Consumer Reports takes a broader view, since many foreign-owned companies are now making cars on U.S. soil.
The list is long and includes models like the 2013 Ford Flex, Ford Mustang, Chevy Cruz and Buick Regal to name just a few.
Click to visit Consumer Reports to see the entire list and get details on the price differentials. Some of their auto information is to subscribers only, an investment that might be worthy if you're a serious car-buying, bargain-hunter.
