Car, Truck of the year named at NAIAS

DETROIT – On Monday the Hyundai Elantra was named the 2012 North American Car of the year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

This marks the second time Hyundai has taken the title of car of the year. The Hyundai Genesis took the title in 2009.

The Land Rover Rover Evoque was named the 2012 2012 truck of the year by fifty automotive journalists who voted on the winning vehicles.

A vehicle must be all new or substantially changed to be eligible.
This is the 19th year for the awards. Organizers accept no advertising, though automakers capitalize on the marketing value of the honors.
