With hundreds of thousands expected, Cruisin' Downriver should be one of the biggest car cruise events of the year -- despite a few construction hiccups.
Classic car fans will drive and set up alongside Fort Street this Saturday, June 29th, in Lincoln Park, Wyandotte and Southgate. Because of continued construction, Riverview officials have decided not to participate in this years cruise, although the city is expected to return to the cruising route next year.

"If you're coming to Fort Street on Saturday, expect to see crowds of residents and visitors having fun," says Sandy Mull, Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber of Commerce president. "They start setting up their lawn chairs and coolers early in the morning to have a good view of the cars."
There's plenty of entertainment with local businesses setting up parties featuring food and music.
This is first and foremost a community event.
"Any entertainment or other events that take place that day are put on by the cities or businesses on the route," Mulls adds. "No person or organization makes money."
The event is free.
Just make sure not to speed, drag race, perform hole shots or lay rubber. A strict code of conduct is being enforced for public safety.
Unless marked otherwise, the two curb lanes of north & southbound Fort Street are for car cruisers. Other traffic should use those lanes closest to the median. All traffic signals will be operational and normal traffic rules still apply.
