New documentary detailing auto bailout premiers Wednesday night

Documentary to detail auto bailout through interviews with people involved

DETROIT – "When the American auto industry broke down, we all got taken for a ride."

That's the tag line for a new documentary about to hit theaters nationwide. The documentary, which premiers Wednesday night, will detail the auto bailout through interviews of the people involved.

Given the tagline and the trailer that almost 300,000 people have seen, it seems the film is going to slam the bailout as a disaster. But the filmmakers said that's not the case. In fact, they said after 75 hours of interviews for the film, their idea completely changed.

The biggest surprise in making the film is the inclusion of the Fiat-Chrysler partnership. Many people say it's not Fiat that saved Chrysler, but the other way around.
