Still plenty to do after the Dream Cruise

Don't put your classic away just yet! Here's a few events to enjoy before you do

DETROIT – The biggest automotive event in the world is over but that doesn't mean you have to put your classic car back in the garage.

Your first stop should be Cruisin' Hines on Sunday, August 25. I've heard a lot of cruisers talking about this one for the last few weeks. Why are they people so excited? Hines Drive is closed off to all cars except for the classics and hot rods. Cruisers won't have to compete with normal traffic. Spectators will be treated to just the classic rides they've set up to see. For more information, check out our preview here.

On September 7 & 8, America's longest running antique car show, the Old Car Festival, will take place at Greenfield Village. Going on its 61st year, hundreds of "letter car" Fords from the early 1900's to the 1930's will be on display. You can even watch a Model T be assemble in a matter of minutes! You can find more information by clicking here.

On the same weekend, September 6-8, you could also travel north to the 30th annual Frankenmuth Auto Fest. Over 2000 cars are expected to be at Heritage Park in Little Bavaria. On Friday, you'll be able to see a lot of them cruising. For more information, click here.

September 22 is the Orphan Car Show. See hundreds of unrestored orphan cars (cars whose manufacture no longer exist) at Riverside Park in Ypsilanti. To find out more about this event, go to www.autopalooza.org

Summer is coming to a close, but before you put your car in the garage, why not take some picture and share your classic ride with us?  Use the hashtag #CruiseTheD on Instagram and Twitter and your car will show up on our Cruise The D app!

Don't have the app yet? Just search "Cruise The D" in your app store or click here to find out how to download it.
