Photostory By Laura Fawaz
Saturday June 14 marked the sixth annual Berkley Art Fair.
"This is a community-oriented family event," said Sgt. Mike Crum of the Berkley Police Department. "There's even a fire truck for the kids to ride in."
From photos to mosaic glass art, this festival had a great variety of creations. Ray Tolomeo of Ray Tolomeo Photography traveled from Bristow, Va., to display his photographs of views from the desert to the ocean, amazing architectural buildings and waterfalls, in both black and white and explosive color.
The fair was filled with talented individuals who had spent years working in their fields. Marsha Booser, of Rochester Hills, made serving trays, drinking glasses, mirrors, picture frames, flower pots and even tables out of mosaic glass. From the custom-beaded creations of E. Frowine to Cat's Paw Studios' Kathleen Porter, who has been working with fused glass since 2001, the fair was a chance for artists to showcase their wares.
Twelve Mile Road was blocked off to traffic between Tyler Street and Wakefield Street, and the allotted space dedicated to the festival was brimming with activity. Near the booths of artwork and creations also stood a moonbounce and an inflatable slide for the kids who attended the fair.
