SOUTHFIELD, Mich -- Comcast announced Monday that they will launch a service for their "On Demand" digital cable customers called "Troop Greetings On Demand" for the sixth consecutive year.
"Troop Greetings On Demand" allows military personnel stationed overseas to deliver special holiday greetings to their loved ones to watch whenever they want back home at no additional cost to Comcast Digital Cable Customers until the end of Jan. 2010.
“This special time of year is about family, friends and good will in the community, and we are proud to use our On Demand technology to bring holiday greetings from our troops overseas to their loved ones back home as part of our commitment to powering dreams in the communities where we live and work.” said Tom Coughlin, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Michigan Region.
In order to make "Troop Greetings On Demand" possible, Comcast secured hundreds of videotapes from Army/Airforce Hometown News Service and edited them into short video greetings which include the service member's name and hometown and some messages include the service member's spouse and children.
To access "Troop Greetings On Demand" Comcast customers need to press the "On Demand" button on their remote control and select the "Get Local" option, from there they select "Troop Greetings" and their respective state or Comcast High-Speed Internet customers can view them online at
