'Get In The Game' Campaign Unveiled

Metro Detroiters Urged To Help Shape Image Of City

POSTED: 12:03 pm EST January 26, 2005

"Get In the Game" is the new campaign that was unveiled Wednesday in an effort to get Metro Detroiters behind a world of events that are coming to the city.

Roger Penske, Super Bowl XL host committee chairman and Christopher Ilitch, MLB All-Star Week Chairman unveiled the campaign at the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau annual meeting.

The public information campaign was developed by the Tourism Economic Development Council to maximize opportunities the city has with upcoming events including 2005 All-Star Game, 2006 Super Bowl XL, NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four and other major events.

"Today, we're trying to get the word out," said Ilitch.

"The goal is to raise the awareness and experiences that local residents have with Detroit today and encourage involvement, civic pride and help to improve the area's image overall," according to the campaign press release.

They are also putting out a call for volunteers to help at the events.
