American parent, youth march in Highland Park

Anti-violence march starts at McGregor Library in Highland Park goes to Memorial Park in Ferndale

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – In the wake of the recent murders community leaders organized a march aimed at stopping violence in urban America on Saturday, August 25th

Detroit Rainbow PUSH Michigan will lead the Crusade for America Parent and Youth March against violence and poverty which starts at the McGregor Library just north of Eight Mile in Highland Park.

The march starts at 12 noon and will end at the Memorial Park in Ferndale.

The event will feature peace and justice workshops, music, art, direct action trainings and a job fair.

"The Crusade for America parent and youth march is a clarion call to people all over the nation to stop the violence and save our children. Public safety is not only a concern in Detroit, but around the country. We must take a stand and fight to take our neighborhoods back," said Doctor Alexander Bullock, march coordinator.

Bullock serves as pastor of Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church and is president of the Highland Park NAACP and Rainbow PUSH Detroit Chapter.
