CLINTON TWP, Mich. -

How quickly a company can get back to business after a natural disaster such as a fire, flood, or tornado depends on the emergency planning done today.

While recognizing that each situation is unique, an organization can be better prepared if it plans carefully, puts emergency procedures in place, and practices for all kinds of emergencies. Every business should have a plan for self-sustainment.

The Business Crisis Management Conference, held on Sept. 19, will help businesses to do just that by assisting companies in dealing with these types of crisis situations.

MACOMB COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Industry experts will cover the following subjects: cyber security, medical response, violence in the workplace, family business preparedness, public health awareness, crisis communications, hazardous vulnerability assessment and business continuity. There will also be vendors present to assist with equipment and information on products that will benefit the business community.

Opening remarks will be conducted by Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, followed by vital information on hazard vulnerability assessments and business continuity planning. There will also be breakout sessions that cover subjects such as communications, family/business preparedness and other business survival topics.

"Emergency preparedness is key for business survival," said Hackel. "Macomb County offers the training necessary to help local businesses in those unfortunate emergency situations, should they occur."

The Business Crisis Management Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Macomb Intermediate School District building located at 44001 Garfield, Clinton Township, 48039.

There is a charge of $10 for this event, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
