Michigan Humane Society, Detroit Red Wings team up to help pets in need
Former Red Wing great Kirk Maltby, Ken Kal to 'assist' at pet food drive
The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) says it is teaming up with the Detroit Red Wings for a "Fill the Truck" event to support MHS' free pet food bank and help keep families together.
MHS says it is asking for the public's support of this pet food drive to help keep its pet food bank stocked throughout and beyond the holiday season.

Former Detroit Red Wing great Kirk Maltby and Ken Kal, the voice of the Red Wings, will join MHS to help fill the truck.
"Our free pet food bank program feeds thousands of hungry pets every single year," said Debby MacDonald, MHS Chief Cruelty Investigator and MHS Detroit facility manager. "That's what MHS' Keeping Families Together program is all about - helping those most in need in order to keep pets in their loving homes."
MHS says unopened bags of pet food are preferred. If a bag is opened, MHS says it can still be accepted as long as the food is in its original manufacturer packaging and includes the expiration date. All dog and cat food donations will support the MHS free pet food bank program.
The "Fill the Truck" event will take place Wednesday, Dec. 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care.
