The NAACP and the United Auto Workers plan to commemorate the 50th anniversary of a march led by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in Detroit.
The Detroit branch of the NAACP and the union say the march will take place June 22.
A group of about two dozen religious, political and civic leaders joined the NAACP and the UAW on Monday in announcing plans for the march.
The Rev. Al Sharpton also has announced plans for a Detroit march that day.
King visited Detroit on June 23, 1963, to lead 125,000 in a freedom walk. He previewed his "I Have a Dream" speech at the event.
