Salvation Army of Detroit offering holiday help

Assistance available to Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties

DETROIT – With the holiday's right around the corner, the Salvation Army is stepping up to help those in need.

The Salvation Army of Detroit will begin accepting applications for Christmas assistance on Nov. 12.

Those living in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties are eligible for assistance.

Families with children, individuals with special needs and senior citizens can apply for assistance to receive food, food gift cards and toys.

The program runs through Dec. 14, but early applications are strongly recommended.

Applicants must bring a picture ID for each household adult, birth certificates for household children and a current utility bill, as well as proof of household income and expenses.
