DETROIT -

Many high school teens will come together Sunday for an event that celebrates what the city of Detroit has to offer.

One-thousand teens are expected to gather at St. Andrew's Hall for Stand UP for Detroit!, a night of music, advocacy and fun.

Event organizers said the event will feature performances from chart-topping artists The Ready Set and Timeflies, along with several other special guests.

Along with entertainment, the event will also feature an advocacy fair that will recognize local organizations and businesses that support the future of Detroit.

Organizers say proceeds from the event will be donated to a cause that supports the future of Detroit. The cause will be determined by a teen vote, which will take place in May 2013 at BBYO-Michigan Region's annual spring convention.

Eight local high school teens, all members of BBYO-Michigan Region who hold positions on the organization's regional board, are helming the planning and implementation of the event.

The teens' goal is to recreate a positive image of Detroit, and to help be a part in rebuilding the city's future. Organizers said they look forward to bringing teens together to celebrate the power their generation has to make Detroit the place to be.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. A minimum donation of $35 grants access to the event. Individuals who raise more than the minimum amount are eligible for incentives such as event merchandise or meet and greets with the musical guests.
