Football players in Walled Lake are getting ready to play in pink for their annual Warriors for Warriors cancer fundraiser.
Walled Lake Western High School and the Western Warriors football team will be using Friday's game to raise money for three different groups; Susan G. Komen - Detroit Race for the Cure, St Baldrick’s Foundation and the NFL’s A Crucial Catch program in association with the American Cancer Society.
The Walled Lake Western football players will be wearing pink football jerseys when they take on the Waterford Kettering Captains Friday night. The pink out is expected to continue in the stands with fans wearing pink T-shirts specifically designed for the Pink Out football game.
The T-shirts will be how people gain entry to the game. They are being sold for $15 throughout the community.
Before the football game, there will be a Warriors' Survivor Parade at 6 p.m. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade must buy a pink out T-shirt. The parade is open to anyone who has been touched by cancer.
“Following on the success of last year’s event, we’re very excited to again host this fundraising event in our community,” Western Football Head Coach, Mike Zdebski said in a news release.
