Art Van Furniture to host veteran's tribute

Art Van Elslander: 'This is our way of thanking them for their service and sacrifice'

WARREN, Mich. – Art Van Furniture is saluting Michigan's military veterans and their families at a free, fun-filled Veteran's Tribute Celebration on Sunday, September 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the retailer's Warren store (6500 E. 14 Mile Road). The event will feature a family style barbeque, live performance by country music artist Jamie Tate and The Session Band, golf clinic by Scott Millman from the Simple World of Golf, prizes and more. The All-American Parachute Team, led by celebrity skydiver Mike Elliott, president and founder of "Therapy in the Air," will literally 'drop by from the sky' during the festivities in the Art Van Furniture parking lot.

"These brave men and women have risked their lives for our country and our freedom," said Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture. "This tribute celebration is our way of thanking them for their tremendous service and sacrifice."

One of the event highlights will be a special presentation from Art Van Furniture to five wounded veterans. These deserving individuals will receive a household of furniture courtesy of Art Van Furniture. In addition, Donna Yost, co-founder of Life2000 Ltd in Troy, will present each of the veterans with an heirloom-quality life chest to hold their most treasured memorabilia and cherished memories.

The Veteran's Tribute Celebration is part of Art Van Furniture's Million Dollar Charity Challenge.
