DETROIT - Children who otherwise might not have a present to open on Christmas morning are getting a really nice one thanks to some charitable Detroiters.
One hundred-fifty bikes were given away following a church service at Greater Grace Temple on Sunday.
The financially struggling families have been pre-selected to receive the bikes.
Greater Grace Temple, Detroit Lions running back Joique Bell and Happy's Pizza joined forces on the initiative.
Greater Grace Temple's senior pastor, Bishop Charles Ellis III, says he wanted "to do something to help those families that have been hit hard by this economy" and that "for many people, one of their fondest childhood memories was receiving a brand new bicycle on Christmas morning."
