Detroit police looking for assistant, deployment operator

DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department has several job openings and are looking for qualified individuals.


CITY OF DETROIT POLICE ASSISTANT (PART TIME)
Perform various administrative, clerical support and general law enforcement functions to assist law enforcement personnel at Police precincts, administrative units and police commands. This is a sworn position.
   Qualifications:
   - High school graduation or GED; completion of two years college coursework preferred.
   - 2 years experience as a sworn law enforcement officer.
   - Current MCOLES certification or willingness to become MCOLES certified within 90 days of hire.
   Salary: $21.00 per hour, part time hours

EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPLOYMENT OPERATOR
Receive and process emergency phone calls for public safety emergency service, instruct callers in performance of urgent procedures as needed, and work with police dispatch and communication operations.

   Qualifications:
   - High school diploma or GED; 2 years college with courses in criminal justice, public administration and/or computer science preferred.
   - 6 months - 1 year experience with computer-aided dispatch and communication equipment
   - Three years customer service experience
   - Knowledge of Detroit streets and geographical locations
   - Skilled in operation of dispatch equipment, data and voice communication devices, terminal keyboards and office work
