Devin Scillian checks in with Chuck Gaidica

I've always kidded Chuck about his habit of finding a new thing and quickly moving on to something else. But when he told me he was thinking about becoming a minister, I knew it was a different kind of "new thing."

It's hard to believe it's been eight months since he left the weather office of WDIV.

With much to learn, Chuck is still finding his way, but, of course, with a great deal of faith that he's on the right path.

It was great to sit down with him and catch up. He and I frequently text each other, but he now works days, and I still work nights, so get-togethers have been a little elusive. And we really hadn't had the chance to catch up on his recent health odyssey -- an emergency appendectomy, followed by an emergency surgery to treat the infection that developed after the first operation. He senses that God has been telling him to slow down, which has never been easy for Chuck. (That goes for his driving habits, too, I might add.)

He pretty much went right from WDIV to Oakpoint Church in Novi while at the same time putting together his "Force for Good" reports for us and working on his "Life Remodeled" project for Cody High School and the surrounding neighborhood. So maybe he'll get the message that he really can't do it all.

But I doubt it.

That's one of the great things about Chuck.
