Fashion show benefits refugees

4th annual Passion for Fashion Charity Show hosted by Jon Jordan, Miss Michigan USA Jaclyn Schultz

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – 10 local salons and 10 fashion boutiques are gearing up for the fourth annual Passion for Fashion Charity Show at Shenandoah Country Club on Thursday, December 13th.

This event will raise money and awareness to support Christian refugees living in Iraq and threatened by continuing persecution and turmoil, event organizers said.

The fashion show will be hosted by Jon Jordan, WDIV Local 4 Fashion Editor and Jaclyn Schultz, Miss Michigan USA, 2013.

Presented by Groupon and PayAnwhere and produced by area consulting firm Steward Media, the event brings together community and business members for live entertainment and giveaways.

"This event promotes a different charity every year and we salute the generosity of our sponsors and the local businesses who participate," said Derek Dickow, event chair and Steward Media Founder.

"This year we are hoping to continue to not only raise dollars, but also to raise awareness for the Adopt-A-Refugee Family Program. There are countless families in Iraq and the surrounding countries -- including Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriacs, and Armenians -- being singled out, persecuted, kidnapped, raped, and even murdered because of their religious beliefs. Adopt-A-Refugee Family Program offers immediate and direct help to these refugees with no administrative costs and has helped 130,000 refugees over the last five years. We are proud to support their mission," said Dickow.

Patrons can anticipate an evening of strolling hors d'oeuvres, dancing, live entertainment, desserts, and special guests. Participating boutiques will be paired with a salon and both will sell tickets, with $10 of each ticket and all silent auction dollars going directly to Adopt-a-Refugee. The event drew more than 600 attendees last year.

Advance discounted tickets are available exclusively on Groupon.
