Girl Scout cookies for the troops

Macomb Township Girl Scout wants to send cookies to men, women serving overseas

DETROIT – It's Girl Scout cookie season.

Elizabeth Popovich, age 10, has been a Girl Scout for 5 years.

The 4th grader from Sequoia Elementary in Macomb Township says her favorite subjects are gym and math.

She is already learning lessons in community service.

A few years ago, Popovich came up with the idea to help raise funds to purchase cookies to send to our troops.

For $50 you can purchase a dozen boxes of cookies and help to give them to our men and women serving overseas.

While the troops are serving and protecting us, Popovich is on a mission to make their service a little sweeter.

"Its really refreshing to have your child to want to do something like that, that's selfless," said Elizabeth's mom.

Popovich takes this project very seriously.

Last year she raised enough donations to send 687 boxes of cookies to troops.

You can help.

Donations can be made in the form of a check made out to: Girl Scout Troop #30318
