With winter right around the corner, many of us of are heading inside to stay warm, but for thousands of families all across Metro Detroit, the inside of their home is just as cold as the outside.
"It's a big burden," said Ronda Middleton, a DTE customer, who is looking for assistance with her energy bill. "The winter is coming and I know we are going to have high fuel bills."

"This week is devoted around going into the community and sharing how to use less electricity and gas," said Windy McClure, manager of Community Outreach for DTE.
THAW is funded by the state and some small grants, but a big portion of THAW's success is because of donations.
"We just ask people to be generous," said McClure."Whatever they can give is so appreciated and it will be put to good use."
