DETROIT – "Greektown at Sundown" will celebrate its final weekend in Detroit's Greektown district this Labor Day weekend, but the outdoor patio season will continue into the fall.
Eight new outdoor patios along Monroe Street will remain open daily for dining through October 31. Labor Day weekend marks the grand finale of Greektown at Sundown.
Eight restaurants along Monroe Street between Beaubien and St. Antoine Streets feature street side patio seating including: Santorini Estiatorio, Pappy's Grill, Golden Fleece, Krema, Plaka, Astoria Bakery, Pizza Papalis and Red Smoke Barbeque.
"The outdoor patios are very popular with our customers and we have seen a significant increase in foot traffic and revenue compared to summer 2014," said Athina Papas, co-owner of Santorini Estiatorio and treasurer of the Greektown Preservation Society. "Extending the patio season is a perfect way to help Detroiters experience summer in Greektown as long as possible. And the city, state, business and community support has been great."
