Dr. Ellen and her staff are pleased to announce the second annual “Hope Floats on Bra Day” scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, at the office of Dr. Ellen Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Birmingham.
This charity event is a fundraiser for My Hope Chest, the only national 501c3 nonprofit funding uninsured and underinsured breast cancer survivors in their quest to receive reconstructive surgery.
Silent auction, bra decorating contest and balloon launch:
Fun, food and friends come together to provide hope from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the office of Dr. Ellen Janetzke, MD located at 390 Park St. Ste. 201 Birmingham, MI 48009.
“Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day”, aka “BRA Day USA” was first declared in the United States in October of 2012 by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS.)
The annual event was originally created in Canada to highlight the lack of education of breast reconstruction options at the point of breast cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Ellen has become involved with this charity in order to transform lives -- or “create butterflies” as the tagline states -- restoring breast cancer survivors in body, mind and spirit. “Educating patients is our trademark. Through My Hope Chest and Bra Day USA, we not only help to educate, but also to give back to our community.”
About My Hope Chest
More than 22,000 uninsured women a year lose their breast and many lack the means to acquire breast reconstruction surgery.
My Hope Chest has a national wait list, with referrals coming from the largest breast cancer organizations in America.
All individuals, medical professionals, and breast cancer survivors are encouraged to attend “Hope Floats” and support the unique mission this October.
