Inaugural 'Cruisin' the D' comes to Detroit

DETROIT – The inaugural Cruisin' the D will be held in Detroit this August.

The cruise event runs Aug. 14-17 at Palmer Park, where cars will make the "Detroit Loop."

Here's a look at the three-day event schedule:

On Friday, Aug. 15, a charitable auto theme gala is being held at the Detroit Golf Club.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, is the Showcase of Rare Collectible Cars: Classic and Contemporary, Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Street Machines, Trucks, SUVs, Sports Cars, Motorcycles, etc., and Cruising. The Cruise will be head by Chief James Craig, designated Grand Marshall for Cruisin' the D. Cruisers will do the "Detroit Loop" and proceed back up to 8 mile. This is paired with Car Clubbin' in the D, where car club members are invited to park together with like groups of car enthusiasts and people who share a common interest for a day of fun, relaxation and entertainment at Detroit's Palmer Park on Dream Cruise Day, adjacent to historic Woodward Avenue in the Automotive Mecca.

On Sunday, Aug. 17, several best of 2014 in cars and a best classic church car of Cruisin' the D will be featured at the Charles H. Wright Historical Museum. Covered by Clear Channel Media and NBC.
