DETROIT - Grand Traverse Pie Company is serving up "The Power of Pie' to kids this summer, hoping to assistant in providing over 2 million meals for hungry children and their families.

Summer can be a difficult time for many children, as more than half of Michigan children rely on free or reduced lunch during school. So GTPC is teaming up with Gleaners Community Food Bank's Hunger Free Summer Program.

The program kicks off Wednesday, June 15, and runs until Labor Day. During the 11-week campaign, Gleaners will provide meals to families all across southeast Michigan.

GT Pie Company will provide a portion of their sales from their Michigan Apple Pie to nine different pantries around the state this summer.
