Voting is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. (ET). Every day, the previous day's winners will be announced and a fresh batch of five organizations is introduced for your consideration. Limit 2 votes per eligible voter, per day.
Statement from the science center on why it needs a car:
Mi-Sci would use a Toyota Sienna to travel throughout Michigan getting children and their families excited about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with our Traveling Science programs. Our goal is to conduct science programming in every Michigan county. We also receive requests for science outreach in Ohio, Indiana and Canada. This vehicle would give us reliable transportation for our team to reach more than 100,000 students/year. A fuel-efficient vehicle, such as a Toyota Sienna, will make travel more affordable to schools and events. A vehicle with large cargo space will allow us to carry more programming materials and large demonstration props. Variable seating will allow us to bring additional staff to events, and provide access to neighboring institutions. Statistics show students, especially girls in middle school, lose interest with STEM principles. By winning this vehicle, we will reach more of these students and get them 'hooked' on science for a lifetime.
