National pageant winner teams up with Common Ground

Metro Detroit's own Sherlyn Fox earned the title of Ms. All World Beauties United States 2015, and now she's teaming up with Common Ground to help people overcome crisis situations.

After years of doing hair and makeup and being a judge in pageants, Fox decided to give the competition side of pageants a try. Fox won her first pageant and then advanced to be crowned Ms. All World Beauties United States 2015, all in her first year of competition.

Fox is now organizing multiple events that will benefit Common Ground, a non-profit organization that provides a crisis line and other programs to at-risk community members.

A special comedy night will be held Saturday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at Rookies Bar & Grill, located at 1519 Oak Street in Wyandotte, Michigan. Comedian Bryan Cork is headlining the show. It will also feature Sal Demilio with Floyd "The Washboard" Comic as the emcee.

The event will include a 50/50 raffle, silent auction and food specials. The comedy night is for guests 21 and up. Tickets are available for $20.

Fox is also using her love for fashion to make a difference. She has planned the RAINN Fashion On Common Ground Detroit Fashion Event to showcase local designers. The Saturday, November 7 event will raise funds for both Common Ground and The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network, which is also known as RAINN.

Guests will wear cocktail or formal attire for a night of fun at the Rattlesnake Club in Detroit. Tickets start at $75 and will include appetizers, beer and wine, a runway show and a local artist display.
