Stars and Stripes Festival returns to Sterling Heights; 4th day added

Free admission to festival, all shows

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The annual Stars and Stripes Festival is returning to Freedom Hill County Park this weekend in Sterling Heights.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the largest free festival in Michigan, a fourth day has been added, allowing the festival to kick off a day early on Thursday, with a family day and half off all rides.

"Each year, Funfest continues to expand and grow the Stars and Stripes Festival and this year will be no exception, with great live music, fun family attractions, carnival rides and activities," said Joe Nieport of Funfest Productions.

There will be more than 100 bands, local and national acts, performing throughout the festival, and all of the concerts are free. The four headlining performances are:

  • Thursday, June 26: Josh Gracin
  • Friday, June 27: Bret Michaels
  • Saturday, June 28: Fuel
  • Sunday, June 29: George Clinton and the P-Funk All-stars

Two new laser shows have been added to the event. Friday night, catch Paramount's Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular, and Saturday night, catch a brand new touring show, the Michael Jackson "Salute to the King of Pop" Laser Spectacular.

There will also be a circus show, Shell Camino monster truck rides and an Arts and Crafts Village. The Family Fun Zone will feature camel rides, a petting zoo, Banana Derby and the White Tiger Discovery Exhibit.

The free festival will run noon to 11 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.
