In honor of Autism Awareness Month, Stella & Dot is donating proceeds from the sales of four different bracelets. In fact, 20 percent of the proceeds will go to Autism Speaks while supplies last.

In a release on the company's website, Stella & Dot said children on the autism spectrum experience color more intensely than we do, so we designed our Shine Bracelet to reflect the vibrant colors that make up an autistic child's world.

"We have family and friends who are touched with autism, so it's nice to have something to support a cause that's close to home," said Christine Lammers, a Stella & Dot director and founding leader based in the Metro Detroit area.

The Shine Bracelet sells for $39.  The bracelet is a limited edition and will only be sold in April.

Lammers said Stella & Dot sold more than 9,000 Shine bracelets in the first 24 hours of this campaign.

The other bracelets being sold to benefit Autism Speaks are the Sole Bracelet that retails for $39, the Revival Bracelet that retails for $34, and the Tourjours Bracelet that retails for $34.

According to its website, Autism Speaks is the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization. It is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

"We are extremely grateful to Stella & Dot for its efforts to raise awareness and funds for the autism community," said Pat Kemp, Autism Speaks Executive Vice President of Marketing, Corporate Relations and Development in a news release. "We encourage everyone to show their support by purchasing a Shine Bracelet for themselves or a loved one."

Stella & Dot said it has been praised by The Today Show, Wall Street Journal and The New York times for its innovative social shopping concept that the company said brings together the best of e-commerce, social media and personal service to create a home based business for women today.

To find out more about the company, and its products, there is a Meet Stella & Dot event next Tuesday in Royal Oak. It is being held in Commune below Bastone at 419 South Main Street in Royal Oak. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and guests will get to check out the collection, and hear about the company's opportunities.
