DETROIT – You may have gone by Detroit Public Library across from the DIA many times and thought it wasn't worth peeking in because you have a library card from your local library.
But this is more than about books. The place is more like a museum with art and artifacts that can't be touched by the City's bankruptcy because most of the masterpieces are painted on, built into, or attached to the structure.

Starting Saturday anybody from any community, no matter what library card you're holding will be invited to take free docent led tours to show the wonder, the juicy history and the artistry of the Detroit Public Library. And when you're done with the tour, visit the Ernie Harwell permanent exhibit on the second floor.
