Tribute held to honor Mayor Dave Bing's accomplishments

Proceeds to benefit Detroit Recreation Foundation

DETROIT – A tribute will beheld Wednesday to honor the accomplishments of Mayor Dave Bing.

The event will take place in the Riverfront Ballroom at Cobo Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

NBA All-Star and former Detroit Piston Isiah Thomas will serve as master of ceremonies to the celebration that will feature a strolling dinner, live entertainment and tributes to the mayor.

Video testimonials will be featured from sports, business and civic leaders.

Guests of the event will be treated to performances by the Detroit PAL dazzlers, Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences Choir and the DSO Civic Jazz Mentor Ensemble.

Proceeds from the mayoral celebration, which is co-presented by Lear Corporation and Fifth Third Bank, will benefit the Detroit Recreation Foundation, a non-profit organization created to help fund improvements in Detroit's recreation centers and parks.

The non-profit organization's mission is to ensure all residents, particularly senior citizens and youth, have access to upgraded facilities and skill-building programs that may enhance their quality of life.

100 percent of ticket sales will go toward support of the Detroit Recreation Foundation.
