NOVI, Mich. - Two home-schooled teams will be competing in the 19th annual Michigan Regional Future City Competition.
The theme for the competition is Tomorrow's Transit Design, a way to move people in and around your city.
All the teams get a $100 budget for their model.
Six hundred students compete from schools all around Michigan.
Eighth-grader Nathan Vinarcik and 7th-grader Mallory Aldrich are part of teams that will be making history. This is the first time two homes-schooled teams have taken part in the competition.
"On a day like today when it's cold we also have underground trains," said Aldrich.
Only one team will be chosen to participate in the national competition in February against teams throughout the United States.
The judges will be looking for different criteria and the most healthy city.
