A card for all the other days

When thinking about Mother’s Day it’s easy to remember the cards, meals, and cheesy gifts that were made or bought to “honor” my Mom on her special day. It was the one day that that as a kid, I would stop and take the time to say, “Thanks Mom.”

Detroit In Focus: Art

  • CANT FIGHT A BLIND PIG

Start Gallery in downtown Detroit presents "Cant Fight A Blind Pig" an art show by artist Antoine "Sleep" McDowell. The show depicts stencil pieces of the 1967 Detroit riots, which began when tension mounted after a raid on an unlicensed bar also known as a "blind pig". Said to be one of the deadliest and costliest riots in the history of the United States, Mcdowell recreates stunning images that were taken by photographers such as Lee Balterman who was in the middle of it for four days.

Like Clockwork

Queens Of The Stone Age rocked The Fillmore, bringing new music with their 6th studio album "Like Clockwork". QOSA have not had an album since 2007 so this new release was not only big for fans but for front man Josh Homme and the band as well. Like Clockwork has received critical acclaim reaching number 2 in the UK charts and number 1 on the Billboard 200. In 2010 singer Homme suffered serious complications from a knee surgery and was looking at the end of the band. But members of the band supported Homme and got him back in the studio to record this 6th album. Looks like Queens Of The Stone Age are back on track, and the music is nothing short of awesome. Check out band live and check out the new album, you wont be disappointed.
