DETROIT – More than 150 talented young artists from the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit will travel Saturday from dusk until dawn throughout metro Detroit to provide 35 free concert and theatre performances to area homeless and domestic abuse shelters, nursing homes, juvenile detention centers, hospitals, hospices and other residential facilities.

The event marks the 20th anniversary of Perform-a-thon, and this year organizers said the event is made possible in part thanks to a $35,000 award from the Charter One Foundation.

Mosaic was named a 2013 Champion in Action in this program which awards outstanding community service.

The Perform-a-thon highlights the Charter One "Champion in Action" core values by providing young artists, ages 11 to 18, the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to their community through their art.

Organziers said confirmed performance sites include Cass Community Services - Mom's Place, St. Anne's Convalescent Center, Mariner's Inn, Michigan Veteran's Foundation, Starfish Family Services and the Detroit Rescue Mission.
