Gardner-White announces Veterans job fair

Event planned for Veterans Day at company headquarters

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Gardner-White is announcing its first Veterans Day Job Fair.

The event will be held on Veteran's Day, Sunday, Nov. 11 from noon until 4:00 p.m.

Gardner-White is holding the fair at its corporate headquarters at 4445 North Atlantic Boulevard in Auburn Hills.

"Gardner-White is eager to honor those who have served our country, and to help returning veterans develop lifelong careers after their military service. Gardner-White is looking for applicants with dedication, leadership ability, and the drive that make a successful Gardner-White employee," event organizers said in a press release.

Working together with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as the Veterans' Services Division of the State of Michigan Workforce Development Agency, Gardner-White hopes to provide jobs in all disciplines. The available positions include sales consultants, delivery drivers and helpers, customer service representatives, warehouse help, stock and housekeeping.

The company said it already has veterans in key leadership positions, including store and warehouse management, and also offers mentorship opportunities to mentor and develop new Veteran employees.

Event organizers said Gardner-White has experienced recent successes with this program, having hired new Sales Consultants at the Hiring Our Heroes event held at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in September, and having participated in the Hero2Hire programs.

According to Gardner-White, since 1912, the company has been setting the standard in quality, value and service for retail furniture in the southeast Michigan area. A single store until 1974, Gardner-White now operates ten stores in the area, and continues to grow.
