Chrysler's U.S. auto sales jumped 9 percent in June on strong sales of the new Jeep Cherokee SUV and other models.
Chrysler sold about 171,086 vehicles in the month. It was Chrysler's strongest June since 2007.
Chrysler's best-seller, the Ram pickup, was up 12 percent over last June. And Jeep brand sales were up 28 on the strength of the new Cherokee, which went on sale late last year.
Industrywide sales are expected to be up around 1 percent over last June, according to car buying site TrueCar.com. Other automakers report sales later Tuesday.
