BusinessInsider.com has compiled a list of airline etiquette rules that you might want to follow on your future journeys.

1) Don't hog the overhead. Use the bin at the check-in counters and at the gates to see if your bag will fit in the overhead bin. If it doesn't fit ask a flight agent to check your bag, often bags can be checked at the gate for free. Also, don't put two bags and your jacket in the overhead bin. Keep what you can under the seat.

2) Even worse than having no space for your bag is having a screaming child next to you. If children on the flight are bothering you, ask their parents to intervene. Do not correct the child's behavior yourself, you don't want to create an even bigger problem.

2a) If you're a parent traveling with your children, do your best to keep them from misbehaving. You may be exhausted from traveling, but their good behavior is your responsibility.

3) If all the children are quiet and you decide to recline your seat, be sure to look behind you before moving your seat.

4) Be respectful of fellow passengers trying to relax or sleep. Don't make anyone talk to you. People will often feel obligated to respond to you even if they really want to sleep.

5) Sleeping on the plane may be the only opportunity someone has to sleep for the day, so get up at convenient times. Don't try to climb over sleeping passengers or get out of your seat when the drink cart has just passed your row.

6) The best way to have the most enjoyable flight is simple, be kind to your flight attendants. Flight attendants are not the rule makers, so don't give them a hard time. They often work long days, so make their jobs easier by doing what they ask and remembering your manners.
