Goodyear has launched a tire recall that has stopped the sale of some new General Motors SUVs. The tire company says it noticed some cracks in the tread of those tires during some endurance testing.
The recall involved a total of 48,500 tires. GM has stopped sales of about 6,300 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclaves until the tires are replaced.

The defected tires that have been recalled are the 18-inch Frontera HL tires that were made from November 30 to January 10. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says that fortunately there have not been any crashes caused by the tires.
About 32,100 of the tires made were for the GM SUV's, which are produced in a factory in Lansing, Michigan. Another 16,400 were sold as replacement tires to drivers. SUV owners affected by the recall can have their tires replaced at any Goodyear store or authorized dealer for free.
