DETROIT – Citing intense negotiations, the city of Detroit asked a federal bankruptcy judge for more time before filing its final plan for getting out of bankruptcy.
The final plan was supposed to be filed on Friday, but now it likely won't be filed until Monday.
Sources told Local 4 earlier on Friday that the plan was going to be filed without including Detroit's public safety unions as part of it.
However, later in the day Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr, citing significant progress, asked Judge Steven Rhodes if he would consider giving them a little more time to file the final plan. The judge has agreed, giving the city a Monday deadline.
