DETROIT – Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 10,000 2013 Escape SUVs.

The automaker is concerned the fairly new vehicle has mispositioned carpet padding that may lead to interference with braking.

Though there are no reports of the problem happening to customers, Ford said the issue could increase braking distance.

The vehicle, manufactured at the Louisville Assembly Plant, was first available for purchase in June.

Ford plans to notify owners starting July 23.
