Chrysler recalls 200 sedans, Dodge Avengers over damaged valves
Automaker trying to find 16 affected vehicles, will replace parts for free
Chrysler has issued a recall for nearly 2,000 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger mid-size sedans to find 16 of them that have damaged fuel tank control valves.
Chrysler said Thursday the recall affected 1,934 model-year 2013 Chrysler 200s and Dodge Avengers that were built over a five-day period last fall and sold in the U.S.
The damaged valves could cause the engine to stall or a fuel leakage.
No accidents or injuries have been reported.
Chrysler said a routine maintenance operation led the tank supplier to discover it had shipped damaged goods.
Affected customers will be notified directly and the automaker will replace the valves for free.
