Hines Nut Company recalls salted in-shell peanuts

Hines Nut Company Inc. today announced a voluntary recall of its salted jumbo Virginia in-shell peanuts.

These peanuts were processed in the Sunland, Inc. Peanut Processing Plant and may be contaminated with Salmonella. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
