The top picks were selected from more than 1,000 total offers and chosen for their abilities to help consumers save a little extra money as they are forced to spend more on a gallon of gas.

The selections were split into different categories.

When it comes to generic gas credit cards, CardHub.com gave a thumbs up to options like the Blue Cash Preferred Card from American Express. That card offers 3% cash back at the gas station, 6% at grocery stores, and 1% everywhere else. There is a $75 annual fee, but some built-in bonuses help defray that cost for the first two years.

The website also reviews cards from gas stations. It liked the Marathon Credit Card because it offers a 25 cent rebate on each gallon of Marathon gas during a month when the customer charges at least $1,000.

The Chevron and Texaco Card also received a thumbs up.
