One of the two teenagers charged with the burglary and vandalism of a local church is the pastor's son.
The suspects broke into the King of Kings Lutheran Church in Shelby Township last November. Police said that the vandals splashed paint in the worship area, overturned pews, destroyed the altar and stole computer equipment.
The paint used in the vandalism had reportedly been left in the church's day-care center by workers who were renovating the area.
The 10-year-old church building is located near Schoenherr Road, north of 21 Mile Road.
Investigators said that both defendants confessed to the crime.
